Work is nearly complete on a major upgrade to sports facilities at Cwmbran High School, where a brand new £1.2 million 3G pitch and improved multi‑games areas are being built.
The project includes a FIFA and World Rugby‑certified 3G surface, along with the refurbishment of the old redgra area to create a dedicated hockey space.
The new facilities feature floodlights, fencing, new trees and a wildflower meadow, and will be available for local clubs to hire.
The project is funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. Headteacher Matt Sims said: “The new 3G pitch will not only enhance sporting opportunities for our pupils but also strengthen our ties with the local community. It’s a proud moment for the school and a sign of our continued growth and ambition.
“It’s also is an exciting development that marks a significant milestone for Cwmbran High as we approach our 10th anniversary in October.” Email [email protected] to ask about booking the pitch.
