A Cwmbran nana was surprised to find out that the Cwmbran hospital looking after her poorly grandson relied on nappy donations.
Claire Davies’ daughter Courtney had to take her son Archie to the Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran when he was just a few weeks old as he had a chest infection. She went there in a rush and soon ran out of nappies.
Covid-19 restrictions made it harder for visitors to support and help the young mum. When Courtney needed a nappy the staff didn’t have Archie’s size so she was offered one that was too large for him.
Archie recovered and when he was back home first-time nana Claire decided to do something to help. She teamed up with her sister Porscha Hilton, the landlady of The Unicorn pub on Albion Road in Pontypool, and the pair started a nappy collection.
They put out an appeal on Facebook. Already they have been given 80 packs of nappies and a jar at the pub contains £230 that will be used to buy more nappies. The collection will run until 1 December when will handover the nappies to the hospital for parents to use.
