Croesyceiliog School is celebrating the news that three ex-pupils are now playing hockey for Wales.
Danielle Jordan, Isobel Webb and Sara Davies all played together in the same team at school. They played together throughout their school careers starting from year 9 and from 2011 they won four consecutive under 18 Welsh schools titles.
The trio are currently in France playing a test series.
Danielle has been involved in the Welsh senior squad since she was 16, and has represented Wales at two Commonwealth Games. Izzy and Sara are younger and have been involved in age group hockey. This competition in France is the first time they have been selected together for the Wales senior squad. It’s also the first time they have played in the same team since leaving school.
Rachel Pryce, a PE teacher at the school, said: “They are fab kids who have worked so hard for this. Dani is playing hockey for HC Leopold out in Belgium, Izzy is studying physiotherapy at Cardiff Uni and Sara is about to start a medical degree.”
