A huge rugby festival and family fun day are being held in Cwmbran on Saturday 28 May.
The event at Girlings Rugby Club is being held to raise money for three charities:
After a day full of rugby matches an evening function will take place at Rodney Parade, the home of Dragons Rugby.
What’s happening during the day on Saturday 28 May 2022
Spectators can enjoy watching a:
- Children’s tournament
- Female seniors’ game
- Veterans game
- Mixed ability
- Touch rugby
- Senior men’s charity teams.
Also present at the festival and family fun day will be:
- Military village
- Food court
- Local business stalls
- Bouncy castles and games
What’s happening during the evening on Saturday 28 May 2022?
The evening event takes place at Rodney Parade from 7pm and includes:
- Guest speakers
- Three-course meal
- Silent auction
- Live entertainment

Luke Simmonds, event organiser, said: “The Armed Forces community and charities have helped friends and I through some very tough times. The level of support these teams have offered have been nothing short of incredible. After years of service, I felt it’s time to give something back and try to raise some key funds and awareness for the chosen charities.
“The daytime event will be a rugby festival held at Girling Rugby club. There will be a children’s tournament, veterans’ game, female seniors’ game, mixed ability, touch rugby and final senior male charity select game, all surrounded by a family fun day full of activities, military village, food court and local business stalls.
“Following the fun-filled day will be an evening function at the Dragons Rugby club VIP suite with a three-course meal, guest speakers and live entertainment.
“I look forward to bringing my community into a fantastic day and night, helping raise money for some great charities. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy the activities we have for the families, then move to the formal evening event.”
