TORFAEN’S Civic Centre is to be lighted teal to raise awareness of long-covid.
The Pontypool building will be lit in the greenish-blue colour on Saturday, March 15 to mark Long Covid Awareness Day.
Torfaen council leader Anthony Hunt told Torfaen Borough Council’s full council meeting the lighting is to demonstrate the authority’s support for a local support group that meets in Pontypool.
The Labour leader also said the council will support the Covid-19 day of reflection on Sunday, March 9 which was one of ten recommendations the UK Committee on Covid Commemoration.
Cllr Hunt said the day will mark the fifth anniversary of the pandemic and said: “Doesn’t time fly.”
He said the day is a chance to remember and commemorate those who lost lives and sacrifices made as well as pay tribute to health and social care staff, fronline workers and volunteers, including those from within the council.
