A Gwent family paid a wonderful Father’s Day tribute to their late dad.

Philip Murdoch, 79, died in May 2023 after a short illness. His family, including five of his children and several of his grandchildren, decided to walk up to Twmbarlym on Sunday 16 June as Phil enjoyed cycling and walking.

When they reached the top, Anna, one of Phil’s daughters surprised the group by pulling out masks she had made using a photo of her dad. The group held the masks up in front of their faces for a photo.

Jan, one of his sons said: “We accosted two lads who were walking to take a photo and said ‘don’t ask, just take the photo’. My sister surprised us and pulled the masks out. It was really nice way to remember dad.”

In June last year, several members of Phil’s family, raised over £5,500 for St David’s Hospice Care by cycling from Newport to Tenby in his memory.
