This is a nice little private spot for food and drinks in Cwmbran.
It’s the new garden pod installed outside the Parkway Hotel for “private drinks and dining”.
Planning permission was recently given by Torfaen Council.
The planning officer’s report said: “The garden pod is located at an existing hotel to serve their café/restaurant. The prominent position to the front of the building is not ideal, but it would not be entirely out of place due to the existing outdoor seating area. The pod is not prominent when viewed from the public realm because the hotel is set away from the adopted highway, separated by green areas and car parks.
“It is therefore considered that whilst the proposal does have a somewhat negative impact on the character and appearance of the hotel, the proposal would not be detrimental to the character and appearance of the area as required by policy BW1. The development is therefore acceptable on balance. The development is not located near any residential properties and is unlikely to cause any harmful noise or disturbance in accordance with policy BW1.”
