Wales’ first ‘Stop Smoking’ shop has opened in Cwmbran to give people free help quit the habit.
Situated near Peacocks and Argos on Monmouth Walk, the new drop-in Stop Smoking shop offers a friendly, non-judgemental service with free support and advice to help smokers kick the habit.
I popped along to chat to Joanne Bass from Stop Smoking Wales to talk about the new service. She told me how they use a carbon monoxide gadget to show smokers how their levels get better each week as soon as they cut down and stop.
Refund on unwanted e-cigarette
A member of staff told me that one man walked in the shop just after buying a new e-cigarette. After getting some advice he went back and got his money back on his e-cigarette 🙂
The shop is one of a number of new services being made available to smokers in 2015 by Stop Smoking Wales, the free NHS service to help people quit smoking.
Carol Owen, from Stop Smoking Wales, said: “The shop works on a drop-in basis much like any other retail outlet in Cwmbran Shopping Centre and we would urge smokers to call-in to take a look around and find out how we can help them achieve a smoke-free future.”
Opening hours
Currently open Monday to Friday between 9am– 5.30pm, with Saturday openings planned from February, the shop is managed by experienced stop smoking advisors.
